Morocco Jewish Heritage Tour 12D

After breakfast in Casablanca, we will visit the interior of the Hassan II Great Mosque, one of the Islamic world's greatest monuments, followed by a visit to Casablanca Jewish Museum and the United Nations Square, and the  Temple Beth-El Synagogue. After Casablanca, we will continue departure to the administrative capital of Morocco. We will visit the splendid Mohammed V Mausoleum in Rabat, the Hassan Tower.

Today after breakfast in Rabat, set off through the Moroccan countryside on your way to Meknes. A cultural center for more than ten centuries, Meknes boasts a fascinating medina (old city) and maze of streets filled with colorful stalls and architectural delights such as the intricately carved Bab el-Mansour. Continue to Moulay Idriss, Morocco’s holiest city, and then onto the Roman ruins at Volubilis to see the Triumphal Arch and exquisite mosaics. Late this afternoon, arrive in Fes.

Today is reserved for the lovely city of Fes. Considered the spiritual capital of the country, Fes is one of the oldest imperial cities in the world, with a mellah that dates back to the 15th century. In the company of our local guide, visit the Jewish cemetery where prominent Jews like Rabbis such as Yehuda Ben Attar, Monsengo, and Rabbi Isaac Alfasi are buried. Don’t forget to check out the souks which specialize in everything from tanneries and carpets to ceramic and pottery. Fes used to be home to more than 40 synagogues. Nowadays, the most famous synagogue is the Danan Synagogue which is one of the rare survivors.

Our departure South East in the direction of Erfoud through Ifrane city and the cedar Forest. Ifrane was once the capital of a Jewish kingdom a lengthy time ago. Before we take you to admire the natural beauty of the Sahara Desert, let’s stop at the lovely town of Midelt, which is surrounded by the majestic Ayachi Mountain. Here, you will have an opportunity to see the lovely synagogue of Midelt and check out the nearby Kasbah Myriem, which is a Christian monastery. In the evening, we are heading out to see the famous Sahara Desert, Overnight under tent

Today, spend most of the day admiring the dunes and head to explore various nomadic villages surrounding the Sahara Desert. Visit mainly the town of Khamlia, known as a formerly enslaved person's village from the sub-Sahara and known for Gnawa's spiritual music. Later the day, ride camels across the dunes of Erg Chebbi to the Sahara Stars luxury camp for dinner and overnight.

If you wake up early enough, you can watch the fabulize sunrise, when the colour of the dunes and the play of shadows are an awesome sight. On the way to Todra gorges, we will stop in the water channels(khattarat), which you can descend into to admire the architecture and genius behind this form of irrigation to prevents evaporation in the summer heat.

The itinerary continue to Dades valley, in which we will have the opportunity to visit a Jewish cemetery dated back to 15th century. Later,  we continue toward the Rose valley before we reach Ouarzazate for overnight.

Our first stop in this journey is the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a well-known preserved Kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Morocco. Once in Ait ben Haddou, we will have a guided visit to the kasbah. Then we drive to Taznakht, famous for its Berber Rugs, where you can see the ancient art of Berber rug and carpet making. Lunch at one of the Restaurants. We continue west towards Taliouine. This is the heart of Morocco's Saffron-growing, and we can stop in one of the cooperatives before we hit the road to reach Taroudant, overnight in an authentic Riad.

Our journey starts with a visit to the Medina known as "little Marrakech", which is remarkable for its massive ramparts and vibrant markets.

The Jewish community in t has played a significant part in the town's history and well-being. It has a Jewish Mellah and a Jewish cemetery where the saint, David ben Baruk Cohen Azog is buried. Here, you will have the chance to visit one of the adobe synagogues in the world. This unique 700-year-old adobe-built Synagogues in Azran have Hebrew prayers painted on its walls and an ark with Berber writing.

After Taroudant, our journey continues to Agadir where we will stop for lunch then along the Atlantic coast we reach Essaouira for an Overnight in nice Riad.

After breakfast, meet with our official licensed guide to exploring the Medina of Essaouira and Jewish heritage sites on this half-day walking tour. After lunch, we continue our day toward Marrakech for overnight in an authentic Riad located in the heart of the Medina.

Your tour also includes the Koutoubia Minaret, as well as the beautiful Bahia Palace. Finally, end the tour by walking through the medina, getting a chance to admire all the different artisans performing their craft before arriving at the Djemaa el Fna Square, afternoon, according to time and inclination you will visit the Majorelle gardens.
